Dance-Movement Therapy

Express, release and integrate emotional blockages through movement & dance.

What is Dance Movement Therapy?

Dance movement therapy (DMT), also known as dance therapy, is the psychotherapeutic use of movement to improve health and well-being. It is a creative therapy that unifies all aspects of a person: physical, mental, emotional and social.
We use dance and body movement as a psychotherapeutic tool to help people express their emotions in a way that integrates what they think and what they feel.
DMT sessions can be done in groups or individually, they can also be performed online and face-to-face.

How does it work?

Dance therapy integrates previous experiences to language and body memory, stimulates body perception, develops a body image, stimulates personal and authentic movement, develops personal perception and towards others, it helps us to analyze the emotions experienced, learn to express oneself and reflect about movement, being aware and integrating what has been lived.
Dance therapy emphasizes in expressing through movement what blocks us in everyday life: dancing we can express our fears, sadness, anger, anguish and pain.

In Dance Therapy, what is sought is the externalization of emotions through the awakening of the body. It is precisely through movement that changes can be generated, not only on a physical level, but also by actively and simultaneously working the inner body.

DMT is great for kids, teens, adults and elderly, there is a DMT approach for every stage of life.
